Welcome to Powerful Meetings! In this 6 hour training, you will learn how to lead meetings that achieve your results while building strong engagement and relationships.

We have decades of experience facilitating meetings and events and have identified the key skills and behaviors anyone can learn to lead powerful and effective meetings. We have coached facilitators and helped them grow into confident and thoughtful leaders.

Whether you are new to leading meetings or want to brush up on your skills - join us to gain the confidence and skills you need for any meeting.

Course Details

This training covers:

  • The role of the facilitator and how it leads to powerful, effective, and collaborative work.

  • Foolproof facilitation skills including active listening, agenda and stakeholder management, and building engagement during meetings.

  • Preparing for success including pre-meeting prep and post meeting follow up.

Meet the Instructors

  • Emily (they/them) is a skilled facilitator trained in inclusive facilitation through the Anti Oppressive Resources and Training Alliance, and Gracious Space. They have worked in higher education, the aerospace sector, and most recently in public transit. Their expertise spans project and program management, coaching teams to adopt Agile and Lean methodologies, and supporting teams in leveraging collaboration tools such as Trello, Planner, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams.

    Emily also has a background in education - specifically in teaching K-12 and adults. They leverage the principles of adult learning and pedagogy when creating and facilitating trainings, meetings, workshops, and other workplace gatherings.

    Emily has a Masters degree in Library and Information Science, which they leverage when working with teams who struggle to organize and find information.

    Emily also has a background in disability rights activism, and spent several years organizing to improve the experience of disabled employees in the workplace.

    Emily can help you level up your workplace by having better meetings and developing more efficient, collaborative and fun ways of working together.

  • Cassie (she/her) is an expert at designing for remote work through program development, process improvement, and integrating equity into work. She uses inclusive design approaches to solve problems and believes everyone can make incremental progress towards making things better.

    In addition to facilitation and remote skills, Cassie regularly teaches adult learners on key information skills and behaviors that data-driven employers crave.

    Cassie holds a B.A. in History and Philosophy, Politics, and Law and a Master of Science of Information (MSI).
